The Dance Company's teen-adult classes are designed for beginning as well as experienced students. These challenging classes develop each student’s creative abilities through the art of dance and music, choreography and performance. Each class curriculum is based on professional standards of technique and creative expression. From the serious to the recreational student, each benefits from the development of the body in the proper technical manner as well as building self-esteem and self-confidence. This class is for students interested in the study of classical ballet and developing a foundation for good dance technique. Students progress through increasing technical levels of development, which include mastering petite and grande allegro, turns and adagio. Emphasis is on articulation in the feet, balance, flawless transitions, and graceful agility. Placement by instructor. The color and style of attire will be determined by the teacher, but will include pink tights and pink ballet slippers (split sole) - no skirts.

For female dancers who have achieved the necessary classical technique and strength. Pointe class concentrates on the transference of ballet steps from demi-pointe to pointe.
This ballet class is for the musical theatre, jazz, lyrical or hip hop dancer, who has dreams of improving their dance technique, but not necessarily becoming a prima ballerina. The class focuses on ballet terminology, ballet positions and steps, development of feet and back, center balance, control and body lines. Improvement in these areas will allow the contemporary dancer to improve their turns, leaps and overall dance ability required to excel in other forms of dance. The dress code for this class is a black leotard (any style), pink or tan tights, pink ballet slippers, and skirts are permitted.

This class takes the foundation of ballet as a guide, but then throws out the rules! Students will explore freedom to invent new steps and expressions through movement, emotion and rhythm. Each class has a centre barre, floor work and choreography. This is a great class for students who want to continue their dancing in college, as they will be introduced to the techniques of two of modern dance’s most famous choreographers – Merce Cunningham and Alwin Nikolais. A strong ballet background is encouraged. The dress code for this class is a solid-colored leotard, tights or jazz pants, and black jazz oxfords.

HIP HOP... a funky, fast-paced form of jazz which offers the latest moves to the latest music. With specific rhythms and characteristics, hip hop has its own attitude. Class includes a warm-up followed by age-appropriate choreography. The dress code for this class is casual clothes (tee shirt/shorts/jazz pants - no jeans), tan tights must be worn under shorts, and black jazz oxfords.

CONTEMPORARY JAZZ is a class that connects all the other dance styles together with rhythm and jazz music. This class focuses on style and performance. Center control is developed to achieve strength in leaps and turns, an essential element of jazz choreography. The dress code for this class is casual clothes (tee shirt/shorts/jazz pants - no jeans), tan tights must be worn under shorts, and black jazz oxfords.

LYRICAL uses ballet and jazz dance techniques to interpret the music, lyrics, and emotions of the music. Through movement, this style of dance tells the story through every step and gesture. A solid ballet-based technique is necessary for advanced classes. The dress code for this class is casual clothes (tee shirt/shorts/jazz pants - no jeans), tan tights must be worn under shorts, and black jazz oxfords.

This class concentrates on the different styles of jazz dance and choreography danced in Broadway musicals. Students will learn jazz terms, combinations and choreography to Broadway shows in both jazz and tap. The dress code for this class is a black leotard, jazz pants, shorts, tan tights, and tan tap shoes.

These Broadway-bound classes train students in singing, acting, dancing – THE TRIPLE THREAT – into ensemble and solo performances. Students learn choreography and scenes from popular Broadway shows, such as Seussical, White Christmas, Annie, South Pacific, Wicked, & Hairspray. Each class level includes voice, acting, dancing, and performance. A great class for students interested in securing lead roles in school productions. Prerequisite for this class is a sense of teamwork, positive attitude, and a desire for excellence. The dress code for this class is casual clothes (tee shirt/shorts/jazz pants - no jeans), tan tights must be worn under shorts, and black jazz oxfords.

DANZCOKIDS DO IT ALL! SING, DANCE, ACT, PERFORM! This performance group is the highest level of our Musical Theatre program. Open to Ages 8+. Auditions are held twice a year. Students perform in Broadway Musicals, such as Seussical, Annie and Wicked, as well as original productions. The dress code for this class is casual clothes (tee shirt/shorts/jazz pants - no jeans) and black jazz oxfords.
